Round up of what's been happening in October '17 (Left: Beginner's Guide to Piano, Right: Swn Presents...)
It has been a busy, busy few weeks.
Having been in Keynsham for two months things have started to solidify, with regular teaching, conducting and the occasional live performance keeping things moving. Here are some of the highlights of the past month:
Earlier this month I had the pleasure of returning to Cardiff to support Low Island and October Drift as part of a gig series, curated by Swn Festival and Porter’s Bar. Having not played in Cardiff since the move to Keynsham it was an incredible opportunity to be given, and my first time as a solo artists playing guitar, piano and singing my own songs. It was also a pleasure to see a lot of old friends show up for the occasion; a nice reminder that I hadn’t been completely forgotten!

This month also saw me perform my first ever solo piano concert, in a programme I put together called “Beginner’s Guide to the Piano”. Hosted by the local community centre “Community At 67”, it was a delight to play and discuss pieces from ABSRM Grades 1-8, alongside some of classical music’s greatest hits, and I look to repeat the programme in future! As part of the promotion I was also welcomed onto the Keynsham Hour on Somer Valley FM where I performed some of the pieces, completely messed up the introduction of Moon River, and was even cajoled into singing one of my own songs!

To keep my composition skills up to date I’ve embarked on a 30 day music-making challenge, writing a loop of music (lasting anywhere upwards of 30 seconds) in an hour, then posting a video of the results to Facebook and Instagram. This has been great for my Cubase knowledge and has helped to shape my own production template and composition workflow, and I hope you enjoy the results!

I’m delighted by the teaching I’m able to do in the Keynsham area; a good deal of young and adult learners, including some child/parent teaching, is certainly keeping me on my toes! I’ve also been giving piano lessons in Bristol (around Montpellier and St Andrew’s) on my Mondays, so if anyone in that area is looking for piano, singing or guitar lessons please let me know!
I’ve also included my lesson availability here so if anyone’s looking for lessons here’s what I can do at the time of writing!

I’ve finally got around to setting up a mailing list! I'll be sending a monthly email with upcoming events and a recap on the past month, as well as occasional last minute reminders for any other events and offers you might want to know about!

And so that wraps up October! November is looking to be a very festive and jazzy month as I prepare for a Christmas Eve booking at The Crown Inn, Keynsham, where I’ll be swinging my way through some of yule-tide’s greatest tunes in my first solo jazz piano show! Stay tuned for more updates on that!
