Saturday night was the final night of Evita at the Borough Theatre, my first production as musical director for the Concept Players. It was my first time conducting and directing a musical, complete with 9 part band, and gathered a hugely positive response, drawing in one of the largest audiences the company had ever performed to. As I said in my Facebook post, it's been an absolute pleasure to be the musical director for such an ambitious (and highly relevant) project, and I’m delighted to also be working with them on their next musical production (SHOUT! The Mod Musical)
So, to quote Evita, “What happens now?”. I’ve got a few more musical theatre projects coming up, and have been learning more about how to use Django (the framework which this site is built on). To that end I’ve made a new part of the site called “Performances” which holds all my upcoming and past performances, so it should be easier to keep track of what’s coming up!
Aside from musical theatre things I’ve been spending a lot more time teaching these days, primarily through Cardiff And Vale Music Service (CAVMS) alongside my usual commitments at Vale School of Music and Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School.
While I haven’t been too vocal on it recently (there’s been a lot happening!) I also provided the music for Monstrous Productions Theatre Company’s most recent production “The Amazing Maurice And His Educated Rodents”, which was performed on solo flute by the wonderful Ingrid Lagouanelle - I’ll be looking to make recordings of that soon. I’ve also been doing some work with members of the Borders Trio regarding some past Pratchett-themed works, so look out for that!
That’s all for now - I’ll be looking to do more to develop this site and keep this blog a little more up-to-date in the next few weeks so that will probably involve writing more details on the past few months which have been utterly relentless!
